BCUBE Poised to Become Southern Europe’s First CEIV Pharma Certified Ground Handling Company
2 February 2015 (Rome) –BCUBE air cargo is aiming to become the first Southern European Ground Handling Company for pharmaceutical freight using IATA’s global certification program for shipping cold-chain pharmaceuticals.
BCUBE air cargo is part of the BCUBE Group, one of the major global players in integrated logistic services for supply chain management. BCUBE air cargo is the largest air cargo handler & logistics company in Italy, providing services through its subsidiaries Fiumicino Logistica Europa and Malpensa Logistica Europa at the airports of: Rome Fiumicino, Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate and Venice. BCUBE air cargo offers point to point delivery to and from Italian airports allowing its clients to reach every corner of Europe.
BCUBE air cargo is implementing its already existing Temperature Control System (TCS), a multiplatform integrated set of services GDP ready dedicated to pharma. The implementation project, to be concluded for Fiumicino and Malpensa airports in the first half of 2015, will include, for the end of the same year, the airport bases of Linate and Venice. This will allow BCUBE air cargo to offer pharmaceutical companies the competitive advantage of assuring cold-chain integrity to their clients.
“We’re a dynamic and innovative Italian company”, says Mauro Grisafi, General Manager of BCUBE air cargo, “and we’re aware that the Italian pharmaceutical market is asking for qualified airport logistic services to handle its products with the appropriate level of care. To meet these expectations, BCUBE air cargo is leading the way. As a consequence, Italy will have its first qualified and CEIV pharma certified airport system”. Looking forward, BCUBE air cargo envisages a worldwide community of CEIV platforms: “The next step”, continues Mauro Grisafi, “Will be the integration between qualified international pharma gateways. It is important that pharmaceutical freight is shipped and managed in a standardized scenario through a worldwide logistics network which uses the same high level of quality procedures in a competitive context.”
The IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV Pharma) is a standardized global certification program that trains and conducts onsite assessments to provide the expertise needed to adequately transport cold-chain pharmaceutical products across the world. Since the program goes beyond the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) covering air transport requirements, it is particularly attractive to forward-looking stakeholders who value the extra confidence this certification brings to their pharmaceutical clients.
“The CEIV Pharma program certifies that participants in the air cargo value chain are operating to the highest standards for the transport of what in many cases are life-saving medicines and vaccines. It will give pharmaceutical companies confidence and assurance that their cold-chain logistics requirements are being met through an independent certification process” said Thomas Windmuller, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Airports, Passenger, Cargo and Security.”
